This thread is very nice.

I'm living in Finland since the beginning of July and I think my English is getting so fluent here. Despite of this fact, I still have the fucking redneck accent from deep Spain. There are some sounds that are quite difficult for me... for example I'm not able to pronounce "seat", "sit", "shit" and "sheet" properly and that's a huge shame. :(
Anyway, Finns say to me that my Spanish accent is really beautiful and when they stay with me more than one day they get used to my lovely pronunciation.

Now I will give you a tip that maybe it's gonna be useful: Today I wanted to say I saw muñecas puestas boca abajo and I said "dolls with the mouth below". Anyone got a shit about what I was saying at the first time, then I explained myself and they told me the proper way to say this is "dolls upside down". If you didn't know it, keep it in your minds! :D

Upside down yes.

You know how its called the "tiovivo"? Mary go round... It's not that silly? Well actually been called "tiovivo" is even more stupid.

If you want to know how to pronunce SHIT just try to say "hacha" using an "s" instead of an "ch" it sound like "asha" take a closer look at how you put your tongue and "voila" use it tho say SHIT.

Sit and seat sound the same so not worry about. And sheet... After sixteen years I still strugle with that wird so I allways use a word to define what I am talking about like ie: bed sheets, paper sheets or so ;)

Do you live in England, right? Did you get rid of your Spanish accent or you still have it? Actually, I don't give a fuck about accents, I think it's nice to have your own accent, but I realised there are some people that try to hide it...

Im proud of my accent. Not because im proud of been spanish because im proud of speak as a spanish should speak. The spanish who try to hide their accent i notice how prople looking at they puzzle... Every word sound the same because they over use the sound of "s" "h" and "sh" "ch"even the "t" in computer sound like "compucher" if is pronunce by one of them so.... Dont bother people now you are a foreigner why bother as long as they understandyou?

I hate spanish that after 6 month came back home ( spain) sound like aznar in spanish. You can be talking english for years without change your spanish accent talking in spanish.

One week ago I met a guy who said "senta" (center), "uandeful" (wonderful), "clousa" (closer) and he was kind of proud of his English, trying to correct everybody when we were wrong. I could just try to hide my laughness when he was talking like a fucking douchebag.

The difference is not the sound, but how fast you pronounce
seat: sit
sit: siiiiiiiiiiit
Shit: shit
sheet: shiiiiiiiit

Also...
Beach: biiiiiich
bitch: bitch

I have a trick for that, in order to not have to measure the length of the vowel. I just try to pronounce like "sihit" (with silent "h"). Eventually you do it spontaneously, I recommend it.

About the Spaniards trying to get a very native accent, I find it quite ridiculous when someone try to pronounce the "r" in a very British way. I don't pronounce it as in Spanish either, I try to pronounce it just a bit, emphasizing other letters around it, and I think it works. I don't have a British accent (and I don't care at all, I'm not British and I don't need people to think that), but I don't have a very strong Spanish accent either. People sometimes tell me that my accent is confusing, that they can't know where I am from, and I'm okay with that. I don't aim to get a British pronunciation ever. People understand me and I don't want to force my speaking constantly, I prefer to be as natural as I can.

People allways say they think I'm Polish or German by my accent

By my look they think I am Russian. ( very Russian indeed) because in less than 3 months People in the street came to me asking for directions in Russian and when I say: Sorry I dont understand you they say: not "Rusky"? ups sorry. I thought you were "Rusky" :?

People also use to think that im foreign even when i speak in spanish, here in Spain. I dont know why, i find my accent very normal.
I dont care but sometimes is not funny. For example the other day i went to a greengrocery and the guy might suppose that i was an innocent foreign, so he tried to charge me the double :x

Yesterday, I've learned a new word in english, twerk. Is a verb for the sensual movement of the ass during the dance that is very appreciated as complement of the approaching of little onion.

Reading the original english title of that film about zombies with the unforgettable Bill Pullman I've discovered that is possible to say "snake" with a latin word.

The film is "The serpent and the rainbow". Interesting.

Is poetic and literary above all.

Interesting film. Quite unusual approaching to the 'Z' theme.
